Ethereal Love
By Simone Frances Reed

Amber eyes blink away the tears that consume her
As far as she was concerned her choice was clear
She could no longer straddle the worlds she loved so
Her heart beating slowly and her breathing labored she stepped through the door
Faeries didn’t live in the realm of mortals
And mortals would die in the Ethereal
How she crossed over she would never know
But she thanked the Kings and Queens of Life for her gift
She missed home, but she missed him more
Her turquoise wings fluttered as she flew in the direction of the woods
Her solace she would seek in their depths
Mother Nature would know how she felt
Wrapped in the silk of pink orchids she landed beside the light
Hoping that it would provide her insight
Taking a deep breath and then letting out the sigh she let her tears fall
The woods sprang to life around her
The winds blew a comforting breeze around her
The trees bent towards her in a show of empathy
The creek flowing behind her tinkled with soothing music
And the light sent rays of illumination
With her auburn hair glowing brightly
She stood and followed the light down the creeks edge
Finally the light rested on a stone not far from the woods end
There stood a man with wings of cerulean blue
His hair the color of the sun
With butterflies in his hands
The tear that was in mid fall landed on her left ring finger
As the man smiled at her the tear solidified into a shimmering ring
In awe of the happenings she leaped into his arms
The butterflies scattered and flew above them
For where the Faeries live
In the Ethereal Land
What one’s heart desires
If it is the purest and truest of loves
Will manifest where ever one chooses to be
For his love for her was his destiny
